After Heidi Plummer lost her job through a corporate downsizing, an idea popped into her head. She decided to pursue a long-time dream of owning a retail business and opened Kernel Cody's Popcorn Shoppe LLC in LeClaire, Iowa.
Since opening March 13, 2009, Kernel Cody's has popped 5,000 pounds of popcorn, Wiley Plummer, said. From a century-old brick building at 125 N. Cody Road, once the home of the town's telegraph office, it produces and sells 25 varieties of flavored popcorn such as Snickers, caramel, white cheddar, peanut butter and the popular LeClaire Mix, a combination of cheese and caramel corn.

After my husband Wiley retired in December of 2012, we decided to move to Florida to be close to family. Our son and daughter-in-law moved here over 20 years ago and our grandson married a Florida girl in 2010. Two years ago we were blessed with beautiful twin great-grandsons!
We enjoyed our popcorn shop in Iowa so much that we decided to open Park Avenue Popcorn Shoppe shortly after our move. Coming up with new ideas and recipes is a lot of the fun and adding The Ice Cream Club ice cream has been a great addition to the nostalgic candies and many flavors of popcorn we offer.
